That morning Thursday (10/13/2022). Several students of SMX School of Makers sat cross-legged on the second floor of the Yayasan Rekor Nusantara office in sempur area, Bogor. They seemed to be engrossed in watching several documentaries produced by the Record team. The duration is not too long, but it is enough to bring important messages related to various environmental issues that exist in several regions of Indonesia.
After the film was screened, the agenda of the discussion was heated. Several students present, introduced themselves to each of them. Then Q&A about the film production process, what things must be prepared before producing a film and various other things. The atmosphere of the discussion was very fluid accompanied by laughter, but it was still serious.
SMX School of Makers teacher Lutfi said the educational institution where he served was a business and movement incubation school. Each student who attends school there is directed according to his own interests. Starting from specializing in videography, culinary, design and so on.
"Our visit to the Record Foundation is for learning. Because in the next few days, the students will follow the urban survival exploration agenda for two pecans. The goal is to be able to capture local potential. The input that will be expected from the activity is a journalistic work," said Lutfi.
Furthermore, Lutfi said, the Rekor Nusantara Foundation is one of the goals for his students to learn. Because according to him, this institution has raised many local issues and potentials in various regions of Indonesia and documented them into a work.
"Before the urban survival exploration agenda is implemented, we want to learn a lot from Rekor," he said.
The communication manager of the Rekor Nusantara Foundation, Elsia S Yuanti, admitted that she was happy with the visit of several students from SMX schools. Some time ago, the Rekor Nusantara Foundation held a screening of a documentary film entitled "Pantura Bercerita" at the school. The return visits from those students were very encouraging.
In the discussion session, the woman who is familiarly called Ajeng explained the history of the establishment of the Rekor Nusantara Foundation and the activities it carried out. As well as introducing several units that are under it. Such as INFIS (Indonesia Nature Film Society), Indonesian Hornbill, FRCI (Fisheries Resource Center of Indonesia) and NRCU (Natural Resources Crime Unit).
"In photographing environmental issues in various regions in the form of films or writings, we need to provide sufficient information. Before going into the field, we usually do in-depth research. Also carry out verification of the information obtained. Exploring environmental issues from several parties and points of view," he said.
Ajeng emphasized that before entering the field, the Rekor Nusantara team must be sure to understand the issues to be covered accompanied by in-depth data research. He also recountedvarious experiences carried out by some of his colleagues in photographing various environmental issues in various regions.
"Our colleague when he took a video of the garbage heap at the Galuga landfill, it smelled of asking for mercy. Even to the point of returning to the office, the smell was still strong. But the video results are very good and can arouse the awareness of many parties regarding the waste problem," he said.
Several other staff of Yayasan Rekor Nusantara also told each other various stories. Regarding the ups and downs experienced in carrying out their profession. Een said that the collaboration between the Rekor Nusantara Foundation and educational institutions has been carried out for a long time. To overcome the problems of various environments that have not yet been resolved, collaboration with various parties is important to continue to be carried out. Een gave an example of a slick collaboration in overcoming problems on the banks of the Ciliwung river. The Bogor City Government cooperates with various parties to answer these problems. Among them are the Rekam Nusantara Foundation, the Ciliwung Caring Community to give birth to the Ciliwung River Naturalization Task Force. Also in overcoming the problem of plastic waste. The Bogor City Government collaborates with Plastik Smart Cities (PSC), a global movement led by WWF.
"This is important so that the existing solutions are not just a discourse. But there must be serious changes. Can go to the field with the community. To overcome various environmental problems that exist, it is not enough just to build awareness. There has to be a real movement, building various facilities to fix the existing problems," he said.
Een advised the students present in the discussion, to be more sensitive to pay attention to the surrounding environment. To further make a real movement of change from starting from the nearest environment first.
"Look at the surrounding environment. You can start from home first. Starting from small things like sorting garbage. That's a small thing whose impact is very significant. Inviting others is not easy, even to the closest people, it is sometimes difficult. We can start with ourselves to make real changes.
