The Bogor City Ciliwung Naturalization Task Force is a team consisting of various parties which was authorized through the Decree of the Mayor of Bogor No.660.45-247 of 2018. One of the programs of the Task Force is the Ciliwung River Patrol. The Ciliwung River Naturalization Program is the main program of the Bogor City Government.
To increase public awareness of plastic waste, the Ciliwung Naturalization Task Force is tasked with providing education, outreach and assistance to RTs in an area regarding waste processing in line with the Plastic Smart Cities (PSC) program.
PSC is an initiative launched by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) with a mission to encourage cities and coastal activity centers to stop the leakage of plastic waste into nature by 2030 by working together with stakeholders around the world.
One of the areas assisted by the Task Force is Kedung Badak Village, Tanah Sareal District, RT 01 RW 13, which was designated as a priority RT because its location is close to the Ciliwung River and its waste management is not good.
Of course, the journey during which the Task Force accompanies the area does not always go smoothly and questions always arise from the public about "What is this education and assistance for?"
As happened when a meeting was held with RT, RW heads, cleaning officers, community leaders and sub-district officials to introduce the PSC program and socialize that RW 12 had additional priority RTs, namely RT 02 and RT 04.
Among the many meeting participants, one of the RW secretaries asked "Has there been any success in RT 01 RW 12 in sorting and processing waste?"
Subandi, the leader of Team 5, answered, "This task force's area of responsibility is only education, outreach and assistance. Regarding waste processing, it is returned to the residents, if there are residents who want to manage it, the results are also for them. For example, in Cibuluh, there was one resident who wanted to raise chickens using organic waste as chicken feed and we helped him in terms of purchasing chicken seeds and thank God, thanks to the will, the maintenance continues to this day."
"Likewise in RW 12, if there are residents who want to manage organic waste, we will help like the residents of Cibuluh," he added.
Agus said, "He asked what the Task Force had done. I think it's very subjective, yes. He does not follow or participate in our activities, while we always provide information to the RW every time we carry out activities. That's why asking this question.”
The problem of organic waste in this area has not been resolved because there is no land to raise chickens, so cleaning officers do not want to raise chickens by using organic waste as chicken feed.
"We want organic waste to be managed in the region and only residual waste to be taken to DLH. "If the cleaning staff wants to raise chickens, we will talk directly to the RW to ask if there is a place that can be used as a place to raise chickens," said Subandi.
The Task Force will support everyone who wants to manage organic waste so that it can produce added economic value. For residents who keep chickens, they can simply take organic waste to residents' homes to be used as feed. Therefore, there is no need to spend capital to buy chicken feed. The chicken products can be sold or consumed personally.
Subandi answered again, "We are grateful that RT 01 RW 12 succeeded in winning 2nd place in the 2023 Clean Bogorku RT Inter-RT Cleaning Competition in the River Bank Settlement category and this is a matter of pride for us as the Task Force."
This victory is proof of the success of the Task Force in assisting priority RTs so that RT 01 succeeded in getting 2nd place.
"This victory can also prove to people who ask what the results are and these are the results that have been proven," he added.
Of course, this victory is also due to the participation and consistency of the community in the region in waste management.
"I am happy that there is a Task Force for better waste management, especially for a cleaner environment, thus making society more advanced," said Iwan, a resident of RT 01 RW 12.
In terms of educating and socializing, it takes a long time. After assistance from the Task Force, residents finally became consistent in sorting waste from their homes.
"I am happy and grateful to have been accompanied by the task force, so the task force has helped in my area, in the future hopefully my area can be consistent in sorting waste better," said Siti Warsih, head of RT 01.
"Thank you to the task force team for helping and assisting my region so that I won 2nd place, this is proof of the task force team's work in our region, thank you very much," he concluded.
This success encouraged other RTs to join as RTs assisted by the Task Force in managing their waste. So far, many have questioned the vision, mission and function of the Task Force, but now many people are finally appreciating the achievements that have been obtained. ***
