Bogor (15/08) – Team 3 of the Naturalization Ciliwung Task Force (SATGAS), in collaboration with students from the Engineering and Management environmental IPB School of Vocational, has been consistently monitoring residents in priority areas (RT) in Babakan Pasar and Sempur villages. Their efforts are aimed at educating people to sort their trash along the Ciliwung Riverbank to ensure success.
The ongoing five-year support for the priority residential of Babakan Pasar and Sempur villages has been successful. Residents are actively separating trash in their homes and differentiating between high-value and low-value plastics. The SATGAS team collects the plastic waste every two days and processes it at the TPS3R (MRF) Mekarwangi facility to produce plywood and casings. Additionally, residents are using organic waste to create compost.
Mr. Yatna, the leader of the 3 Naturalization Ciliwung Task Force (SATGAS), and his team conduct regular workshops to educate residents about the importance of sorting trash, especially plastic waste.
Currently, the majority of residents in RT 02 and 03 RW 10 understand the significance of sorting their trash, and even young people are actively participating. Out of 125 houses, only 5-10 still have mixed trash.
This transformation will certainly have a positive impact on the surrounding environment, particularly the Ciliwung River, by reducing the amount of randomly discarded plastic waste and improving water quality.
This initiative is a collaboration between Rekam Nusantara, the Bogor City Ciliwung Task Force, Plastic Smart Cities Program, and supported by the Bogor City Environment Agency.
In addition to providing information, the SATGAS approach of consistent trash collection and education has been highly effective in encouraging residents to actively participate in maintaining cleanliness.
