Rekam Nusantara Foundation and Bogor Environmental Agency: Waste Sorting Starts at Home

Share :

Rekam Nusantara Foundation, through its Urban and Sustainability Unit, has officially signed a cooperation agreement with the Bogor Environmental Agency (DLH) to strengthen waste management governance in Bogor for the next five years. This collaboration focuses on managing the Reduce, Reuse, Recycle (3R) Waste Management Facility in Bantar Kemang and the Recycling Facility (FDU) in Mekarwangi. It also aims to educate the public on managing waste at home.

Since 2018, Rekam Nusantara Foundation and the Bogor City Government have been working together to raise awareness about the impact of waste. Initially, the campaign focused on proper waste disposal, and now the next step is to involve residents in actively sorting their waste into three categories: organic, nonorganic, and residual.

Waste sorting not only reduces the burden on final disposal sites (TPA) but also prevents waste leakage into the environment. Residents are encouraged to deposit high-value plastic waste at the Central Waste Bank as savings. In contrast, low-value waste will be processed at the Mekarwangi Recycling Facility (FDU) into useful recycled products.

This initiative is a significant step towards creating a circular economy and promoting a healthier environment in Bogor. The ongoing collaboration between Rekam Nusantara Foundation and the Bogor City Government is expected to set an example for other cities in developing better waste management systems.

Through this synergy, Bogor aims to become cleaner and more self-sufficient in waste management, while also fostering stronger environmental awareness among its residents.
