Istiqomah Waste Bank has a variety of payment systems when customers deposit their waste. One of them is semester savings which can be taken out when necessary for school fees, Eid al-Fitr, Eid al-Adha, and savings for leisure or spiritual tourism.
There are 3 payment systems, direct payment, savings and alms. “Usually customers decide to be paid immediately in cash or via bank transfer. "If you save, immediately book it and save it, usually we also give you a choice, what period of savings is this, school savings or travel savings," said Nurita.
There are 3 alms payment systems, namely alms for making eco enzymes, alms for making fruit plants in pots, and alms for environmental volunteers at the Istiqomah waste bank community.
From eco enzyme, derivatives are made to be made and used as clothes washing soap, dish washing soap and carbolic acid. Soap containers are not provided because they want to improve the welfare of the community, especially members of the waste bank. Therefore, the soap distribution system is refilled using a personal container.
Nurita said that this waste bank was initially established when there were environmental regulations to create a clean environment, but it was not implemented by the community.
Nurita believes that environmental regulations are not implemented by the community due to a lack of knowledge about this matter. Finally, Nurita, a resident of Cimanggu, Jalan Pelita Jaya II, RT 03/08, Kedung Jaya Village, Tanah Sareal District, Bogor City took the initiative to invite residents to gather with the theme "Love the Environment". The first meeting was attended by 18 residents from 550 Family Cards (KK).
"From the 18 people, I conveyed things about loving the environment with the theme "Clean, Green and Healthy," he said.
The first meeting was just an agreement, we didn't know what would happen in the future. Starting with looking for a mentor who is knowledgeable in their field and finally agreeing to start it. Looking for information from one of the senior waste banks, namely Darga, who has done environmental care in that area.
Darga explained briefly about waste sorting, so Nurita was advised to contact the Environmental Service (DLH). Twelve people attended the meeting with Darga, a decrease of 6 people from the first meeting.
DLH apart from helping with education, also provides facilities and infrastructure by being given sorting bags and savings books, and given tools to make biopore holes.
This meeting apparently encouraged Nurita and other residents to invite DLH, and only 8 people attended. "I think these eight people are really serious and have one vision and mission," he said.
From there, start doing as suggested and given knowledge by DLH regarding organic and inorganic waste. It is also recommended to open a waste bank by making a Decree (SK) through the sub-district.
From the mutual agreement, of course capital is needed to start this activity. “Finally we donated money to each other. "To be fair, let's calculate that one receipt has a nominal value of 25,000, it's up to you how many receipts you want to buy, each person buys various receipts according to their individual abilities," he said.
Feeling that they already had the necessary funds, they developed a work method by taking to the streets, conducting door-to-door outreach by sorting waste directly, and making and distributing brochures and flyers to everyone they met.
As time goes by, they begin to carry out outreach to schools or communities, agencies and academics. "Every time we do socialization, we always convey it to the public, after sorting the waste, one month later, please deposit it at our place. "Later we will weigh it and provide results in the form of money," said Nurfita.
The Istiqomah Waste Bank has been open every day since the beginning. Because in every socialization, almost 99% of people who are given knowledge about waste sorting, deposit their waste into the Istiqomah Waste Bank.
Since its inception until now, they have 427 customers with an average waste production of up to 2 tons per month.
Currently, the number of customers from start to present is 427 with an average of up to 2 tons per month. The types of waste accepted by the Istiqomah Waste Bank are plastic types (mineral bottles, plastic cups, bottle caps, gallons, plastic bags, buckets, styrofoam), paper types (white base paper, mixed paper, cement paper, cardboard, cardboard, newspapers , magazines, worksheets, books), and types of metal (iron, aluminum, copper, brass, cans, mixed iron, wire, nails, keys).
Istiqomah Waste Bank operates in the field of inorganic waste. Don't have tools, everything is still manual. Any item that can be used, will definitely be used. "For all the activities needed, for example in the environment there is an activity to make rubbish bins, let's collaborate with our waste bank to make rubbish bins together using mineral gallons," said Nurfita.
All programs are running well, one of which is the socialization program. In the past, mass outreach was usually carried out once a month, but with the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), now it can be done 4 times a month or once a week.
"Next year, socialization will remain number one, because we want to make the environment smarter. "The waste we receive will be recycled, we want to expand to recycling that can be used as an industry," he concluded.***
